Inscribed with the words, 'Presented to J.F. West Esq. by the students of Queen's College Hospital 1857'.
Silver inkstand presented to West in 1857
Inscribed with the words, 'Presented to J.F. West Esq. by the students of Queen's College Hospital as a mark of their appreciation of his valuable services to that institution. October, 1857'.
Sword-stick
Engraved with the words 'JAMES F WEST MRCS'. The stick must date from between 1854, when West gained membership of the Royal College of Surgeons and 1867, when he graduated to its fellowship.
